Part 2 of my "let’s make fun of a hypocrite" series.
When we left, I was about to reveal the identity of the church-website trash-talking bluey. I looked hard, then looked at my computer and typed in two words: "casey treat"
Yep. That’s him. And the
Brad Pitt McFrowny kid? His son.
Wow. Let’s recap – each of these tickets costs about $10k – discounted. So there’s $20k for he and his son. Sure, I can hear you, "Stefan, couldn’t he have just bought two coach tickets and used his bazillion miles to upgrade." I offer you two rejoinders:
- No. You can’t double-class upgrade.
- Even if you could, why the fuck does a pastor in a north Seattle ‘church’ have a bazillion miles? Maybe one of his flock gifted him the miles. That’s possible. But only if he paid $5k for a biz class ticket. And now I’m back to my irritation.
I fail to see how or why a man of the cloth needs to fly First class. Especially when the VAST majority of people who fund his church and subsequent lifestyle probably have never been out of the country. It oozes icky. My Jesuit teachers never did such a thing – hell, Fr Krall made his own fricking clothes. Fr Treleaven lived on a stipend of $200 per month, so I had to buy the cigars for our weekend smoke and drinking fests. Fr Kuder – well, he was tres cool, but I guarantee he wasn’t flying Intl First.
Turns out Mr Treat is actually a cokehead that, conveniently found God. Now, he lives in a mega Mansion outside of Seattle and drives Harley’s to his worship sessions that can top 6,000 people. Holy Shit.
His entourage – yes, he had an entourage – all sat in the back of the bus. Not really- four of them were in Business Class. Chalk up another $20k for their tickets. That’s $40k that could have been spent on a Habitat for Humanity house, on about six water purification systems for sub-Saharan Africa villages (only if they’ve found Christ, of course), or job training for dozens of homeless, veterans, or otherwise displaced people from our fucked up society.
Or, it could be for Casey Treat and his mopey little son to fly First Class to Tokyo.
